HR Architecture firm
I have 10 years of experience in HR, but I consider myself part of a new generation of HR practitioners—one that is challenging what HR has traditionally looked like. You can call it People Operations, People Services, Employee Experience, or something else entirely. At the end of the day, it still comes back to the same thing: human resources. My goal is to keep the human part of HR while building practices that actually make sense for the business.
HR, BUILT FOR YOUR BUSINESS
HR is more than hiring, firing, policies, and paperwork.I approach HR like an architect. Before I build anything, I learn your business—how you operate, who your people are, where your challenges are, what your leaders need, and where you want the organization to go.There is no single “best practice” that works for every company. The right HR structure is the one that works for your organization.QUIMEL helps build that foundation—from processes, systems, compliance, performance management, employee experience, and leadership practices to the structure of the HR function itself. And the goal isn't to make your company dependent on us forever. The goal is to help you build a sustainable HR function, find the right long-term HR people for your organization, and give them the foundation and support they need to succeed. That last part is actually a very strong differentiator for you. Most consultants sell continued dependence on the consultant. You're basically saying: I want to build this correctly enough that eventually you don't need me.
SMALL BY DESIGN
QUIMEL intentionally maintains a maximum 1:2 client ratio for ongoing engagements. That allows us to stay involved, learn the business, and provide the level of attention our clients are hiring us for.At this time, we are not accepting additional long-term clients. We are, however, accepting inquiries for short-term projects and targeted HR support, typically ranging from a few days to several weeks.

ABOUT THE HR ARCHITECTIsabel Quimel, PHR
I’ve never been very interested in doing things just because “that’s how it’s done.”I’m originally from the Philippines and moved to the U.S. (Alaska) about 11 years ago. I started my HR career as an HR Assistant and today work as an HR Director and Senior HR Consultant. My path has never been traditional. I’ve always been willing to move toward bigger responsibilities, harder problems, and better learning opportunities instead of staying somewhere simply because that was the expected thing to do.That is also why I love building HR from the ground up. I learn the business, talk with managers, figure out what is missing, and build the systems, processes, and structure around what the organization actually needs.I call myself an HR Architect because that is how I think. I may not be great at drawing a blueprint, but I can visualize one for a business — what needs to be built first, how the pieces fit together, and what will make the HR function sustainable long term.My goal is not to make a company dependent on me forever. It is to build a strong enough foundation for the right long-term HR people to step in, use it, and continue growing it.SMALL BY DESIGNQUIMEL intentionally works with a limited number of clients, generally at a 1:1 or maximum 1:2 ratio, so I can stay close to the team and give the work the attention it deserves.I want QUIMEL to stay small, focused, and sustainable — by design.

THE PAW BEHIND THE MARKBao Bao Quimel, Chief Executive Sniffer
Bao Bao is an integral part of this very small firm. Between a full-time career, QUIMEL, and everything else life brings, he is the steady presence behind the scenes. He sees the sleepless nights, the stressful days, and probably more laptop time than he would prefer. But he also gets a front-row seat to the good parts—the excitement when a project finally comes together, the satisfaction of crossing another thing off the list, and the inevitable laugh when a revision comes back that I probably should have seen coming. His responsibilities include enforcing breaks, supervising from a suspiciously comfortable location, reminding me there is life outside of work, and providing unsolicited quality control.Every good architect needs someone who reminds them to occasionally step away from the blueprint. Bao Bao does that for me.The long-term vision for QUIMEL is to grow thoughtfully while staying small by design, with an office headquartered in Alaska and a workplace that reflects the culture behind the firm — including, of course, being pet-friendly.And yes, the tiny paw hidden in the QUIMEL mark is his. 🐾
